What do you love about Greece? I have had a long standing on-and-off love affair with Greece. I’m half-Greek myself and lived in Athens for 5 years about 20 years ago. For the last 7 years, I’ve been living in Corfu.
As a foodie, I love how food-centric Greece is. It seems that people are constantly discussing (or eating) food. I just love that. Greeks are also strong in character and enjoy good humor.
I also appreciate the Greek “live and let live” attitude towards others. The culture can be very accommodating much of the time and accept imperfections in others, and I think that just makes living here easier. Since they love to debate (having invented it) they also don’t over-personalize disagreements and give a wide berth to their fellow citizen. On the other hand, Greeks sure feel free to express their personal opinions about just about everything and not always so diplomatically!
I could go on but suffice to say that life is definitely interesting in Greece which suits me just fine!
