Fresh Tomato Sauce

Fresh Tomato Sauce
Fresh Tomato Sauce

I began making my own tomato sauce when I started going really low sugar in my diet and noticed that most store bought tomato sauces contain sugar. This sauce is simple to make, tastes great, and is sugar and oil free to boot. I added the sea vegetables for thickener. Sea vegetables are really nutrient dense so you get a thickener and a nutrient punch at the same time.  Nice.  🙂

Ingredients:

-2 medium tomatoes

-3-4 sundried tomatoes (chopped)

-1/2 tablespoon wakame

-1/2 tablespoon nori

-salt, pepper to taste, garlic or other herbs as you like. Sometimes I add fresh basil which is amazing.

This is so simple–chop it all, put it in a blender for 1-2 minutes and it’s ready to go.  If the pasta is hot, you usually don’t even need to heat this but you want it warmer, just heat with the pasta for a minute or two. This serves one to two depending on your portion size.
